While working in Kansas, we managed to get a little free time to check out a couple of local bike trails. The Middle Creek State Lake Trail was the most accessible because it is located at the end of Metcalf Rd. just past where we stay at ” Rutlanders Outpost. ” Because of this, we could ride to the trail on our bikes. The round trip was just under three miles. The path is made of firmly packed gravel with dirt and was reasonably easy to navigate, although there were some muddy spots.
There is an access road to the primitive campsites that are available at this location. This trail is an actual nature trail with plenty of beautiful views.
There is also a double boat ramp with a large parking area and a port-a-john.
We enjoyed riding our bikes around this popular hunting and state-fishing area.
