Because the phrase “bike trails near me” is the first thing most people Google soon before, or directly after, getting their e-bike ordered, I thought listing the bike trails near me would be an excellent place to start this blog. The trails near me would be the bike trails located in Western Pennsylvania. Here I posted the trails from the list of Western Pennsylvania Bike Trails I have ridden. As I visit other parks and bike trails, I will add them to the bike trail list. Meanwhile, I will be working on seeing the rest of the Western Pennsylvania Bike Trail’s List and highlighting their story.
Oil Creek State Park Bike Trail
This is my favorite bike trail when I visit Titusville, Pa. Out and back, it’s 18.7 miles. Whether walking or riding, you are immediately immersed in the deep scenic beauty of the Oil Creek valley gorge and the deep forest. The Trail was constructed on the old narrow gauge railway track used for industry in the 1800s as this is documented along the Trail with the many plaques describing the past eras. The south trailhead is at Oil Creek State Park, Petroleum Center, Pa. The north trailhead is located at the Jersey Bridge Parking Lot/Trailhead, Drake Well, Titusville, Pa. Here is the website with the bike trail and park information.
According to Wikipedia, Oil Creek State Park comprises 6,250 acres in Cherrytree, Cornplantnter, and Oil Creek Townships, Venango county, Pennsylvania. The park was established in 1931.
Three Rivers Heritage Trail
The Department of Public Works and The Friends Of the Riverfront maintain this 33-mile-long bike trail in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Allegheny County. This Trail is another personal favorite. The Trail includes parts along all three rivers, the Allegheny, the Monongahela, and Ohio. Several neighborhood trails are also included in the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. Some locally known trails included are North Shore, Chateau, Junction Hollow, South Side, Strip District, Duck Hollow, and the Jail Trail. When we ride this Trail, we park in Millvale at the Riverfront Park,70 Riverfront Dr., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15209. Other parking can be found at www.trails.dcnr.pa.gov
Moraine State Park bike Trail
This seven-mile paved Trail is not a loop located in northwestern Pennsylvania, Butler County. The Trail can be accessed at many locations. The address for the Bike Rental office and Trail is 118 N. Shore Dr., Portersville, Pa.16051
Moraine State Park also has a mountain bike trail located on the north shore. This Trail is a six-mile loop. The trailhead is located at Mt.Union rd. and Alexander Ridge rd. For more information on this Trail, visit the Pennsylvania Biking at Moraine State Park
Point State Park Bike Trail
Point State Park is a national historical landmark with several paved trails running through its 36-acre. It is part of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. The park was formed in Pittsburgh, Pa., Allegheny county, where the three rivers come together. The point is referred to as the Golden Triangle. This park’s main entrance is at 601 Commonwealth Place, Pittsburgh, Pa. There are limited metered parking spaces along commonwealth place street. The third street garage is the closest garage for parking.
